The Five-Element System

Our methodology is rooted in the ancient Five-Element system, a time-tested framework for understanding personality, behavior, and life patterns. This system recognizes five fundamental elements that shape human nature and their interactions with the world.

Wood is the push to grow, try new things, and turn ideas into action.

  • Strong: you take action, stay hopeful, and plan ahead.
  • ⚠️ Low: you feel stuck or unsure where to begin.
  • Boost: learn something new, set small goals, spend time in green places.

Fire is excitement, warmth, and being seen and heard.

  • Strong: you share openly, inspire others, and light people up.
  • ⚠️ Low: you hide, feel flat, or go quiet.
  • Boost: create something, talk honestly, celebrate with others, get sunlight.

Earth keeps things grounded—routines, reliability, and caring for others.

  • Strong: you are steady, practical, and people can rely on you.
  • ⚠️ Low: life feels messy or worrying; boundaries feel weak.
  • Boost: build simple routines, cook or garden, make clear to-do lists.

Metal sharpens things—tidying, refining, and making clear decisions.

  • Strong: you focus, set standards, and cut through noise.
  • ⚠️ Low: details slip and boundaries blur.
  • Boost: declutter, set simple rules, use quality tools, journal to get clear.

Water listens and moves—learning fast, feeling deeply, and flowing around blocks.

  • Strong: you listen deeply, learn quickly, and stay flexible.
  • ⚠️ Low: you feel dry, anxious, or avoid feelings.
  • Boost: read, reflect, travel, meditate, have deep talks.
Five Elements creation and control cycles diagram (Wu Xing)
White arrows = Grow cycle. Each element helps the next: Wood → Fire → Earth → Metal → Water → back to Wood.
Dotted arrows = Control cycle. Each element stops another from getting too strong: Wood holds Earth, Earth blocks Water, Water puts out Fire, Fire melts Metal, Metal cuts Wood.
Balance needs both: one builds, the other keeps things in check.

⚙️Our Calculation Process

1

You share your birth details

Just your date, time, and place of birth.

2

We fix the clock

Timezones and the sun don’t always match. We adjust to true solar time so your chart is accurate.

3

We build your element chart

Your birth info becomes four blocks (year, month, day, hour). From there we find your core element (Day Master) and the rest of your mix.

4

We score each element

Each element gets 0–5 stars based on how strongly it shows up. More stars = stronger influence; fewer stars = needs support.

5

We turn it into tips

You get simple advice on how to use your strengths and balance what’s low.

1. Solar-Term Adjustment

We calculate true solar time using your longitude and the Equation of Time (EoT), applying classical solar-term rules (JieQi) so the sun’s position at birth is exact.

2. Hidden Stems Calculation

Each branch (year/month/day/hour) carries hidden stems, each worth 0.5★, to capture deeper influences.

3. Seasonal Modifiers

Elements in their native season gain +1★; out-of-season elements receive −1★, reflecting the natural ebb and flow of qi.

4. Star Scoring

We calculate your element’s strength by adding:

  • Visible stems (0–2 points)
  • Hidden stems (0.5★ each)
  • Seasonal modifier (+1★ if in-season, –1★ if out-of-season)
  • Day-Master bonus (+1★ if it’s your core element)
So your final score can range below 0 to above 5, reflecting the true mix of influences.

5. Data Flow Overview

  1. Geolocation lookup for timezone & coordinates
  2. Solar time correction via Equation of Time
  3. Stem & branch determination for year, month, day, hour
  4. Element strength calculation & star assignment
  5. Result assembly & personalized advice generation

📊Reading Your Element Table

Let’s walk through an example to see how to read your Element Table:

Element Strength
🌳 Wood ☀️ ★★☆☆☆
🔥 Fire ☆☆☆☆☆
Day-Master Strength: Strong

The Day-Master is simply the element of your birth day — your core energy that defines who you are.

  • Anchor: Guides how all other elements work together.
  • Identity: Represents your innate personality strengths.

Polarity tells if your Day-Master is Yang (☀️) — active and outgoing, or Yin (🌙) — calm and reflective.

We use this to adjust how each element influences your behavior.

Stars show where you shine and where to grow:

  • ★☆☆☆☆ = Low influence
  • ★★★☆☆ = Balanced
  • ★★★★★ = Strong influence

Wood: 2 stars — moderate growth energy and adaptability.

Fire: 0 stars — consider ways to boost your expression and enthusiasm.

Day-Master Strength shows how prominent your core energy is:

  • Strong: You naturally embody your Day-Master’s qualities.
  • Weak: Try practices to enhance your core energy.
